During 2004-2013 I set-up and co-owned my former salon  Escape Hair Sanctuary Ltd, whilst achieving NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Hairdressing.  Following this venture I moved on to working with KeraStraight (now Fabriq) demonstrating and training Stylists in London and Essex.

In 2014 I brought my new experiences and new talents back to my roots in Witham and welcomed all guests to my new eco-salon, Cabello Hair and Beauty (UK) Ltd.  I am even lucky enough to bring Gemma and  Jessica with me for the ride AND have welcomed even more great talent to my team over the last 10 years.

Since opening,  we have been improving the salon, adding new services, topping up our education and getting involved in some great community projects.  Amongst over 30 awards this decade, we won

Hair Salon of the Year (South) GOLD, Customer Service (UK) GOLD, Employer of the Year (UK) , GOLD, Diane Manager of the Year GOLD,  Amber Junior Stylist of the Year (South East) GOLD, Shannon Rising Star (UK Winner) GOLD,  by The British Hair and Beauty Awards 2025.

I look forward to pushing forward in 2025/6, with some fabulous new ideas for the future and can’t wait to show you.  As we surpass our 11th year in business, we have been picking out new salon designs, new furniture AND new initiatives (including blow-out subscriptions) and much more. …

When I’m not working, I love the theatre and try to go at least 3/4 times a year (my faves are Les Mis and Hamilton), I like to read, watch films and build Lego.  I have 2 Spaniels Luna and Lilly, so love doggie cuddles!  Did you know we are dog friendly?.. and we love to see your pooches, so bring them along to your next appointment.

Diane is our Manager and chief.  Diane does everything salon related, including managing guests and our team. Diane has many hats, so if you need any assistance before, during or after your visit – the chances are you’ll be needing to talk to Diane.

What lights up Diane?  Diane absolutely loves vibrant colours, big colour changes and cutting bobs.  In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband and 2 boys and she’s a massive foodie !

Gemma joined the team having worked alongside Kat, Sam, Jess and Emma at Escape, then while Cabello was being set up in 2013 worked with Lee Stafford at his Chelmsford salon, before returning to her rightful place with the Cabello team.

Gemma has been hairdressing for 16 years and has achieved NVQ Levels 1, 2 and 3.  She has completed several courses; Hair-up with Patrick Cameron plus Redken Colour and AVEDA colour.  She also took a leading role in the Paul Mitchell Colour Challenge.

Since opening in 2014,  Gemma has been Cabello’s lead Colourist and has been focussing her talents on new colour techniques Ombré and Balayage.  Gemma also has a great passion for nano-ring and tape hair extensions, and can transform any hair from a few partial extensions around the face to change your look – or a full head of long locks for a dramatic transformation– without the wait (watch her fly into a full head of extensions in under an hour!).

Gemma’s Occasion Hair and blowout talents are 2nd to none, as she is one of our experts in bridal hair too. In fact she was the UK Silver Winner Bridal/Occasion Hair Specialist of the Year 2023 – British Hair and Beauty Awards,

….so if you’re looking for a great up-do for a night out, some lengthy long locks, hair colour change, style change or even just a trim, Gemma is the Artist for you.

Kelsey had been our Cheerleader since 2020, in 2023 she graduated to Bronze Artist, having passed her NVQ Level 2  and then was quickly promoted to Silver Artist, due to her exceptional skills.  She moves into 2025 with yet another promotion – gold!, having concentrated on her training and customer focus during the past 2 years.

Kelsey loves cutting and colouring long hair, plus she loves styling and plaiting.  She welcomes all new and existing guests, who love something new.

In her spare time, Kelsey also loves all things dogs – so bring your pooch in and watch her eyes spin to run and pet your dog with salon doggie treats.

We are super excited to see what Kelsey gives us next, as she is definitely one to watch flourish.

Amber has been working in the industry for 4 years, in fact, she passed her GCSE Hairdressing with a distinction.

Having breezed through her NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing  early 2024, she has plunged straight into  Advanced Level 3, which she has now completed.

Not only has she been ploughing her way through her qualifications, but she also won Junior Stylist of the Year 2025 at the British Hairdressing Awards.

“I enjoy colour and highlights that give a totally new look.  I love it when guests leave the salon feeling positively refreshed.  I particularly like working with long hair and being creative with different styles and techniques.”

We are super excited to have Amber with us. She is conscientious and at the same time  bursting with energy  – already making an impact on the hairdressing industry, so early on in her career
